Common experiences to most practitioners are descriptions of: better health, greater self-confidence, clarity and peace of mind, love in your heart, peace and / or increased strength in the body or greater concentration and presence. Some claim to experience completely altered states of mind, for example. transcendental experiences that touch upon mystery vision / illumination, ”out of body experiences” and conditions that resemble the consciousness influenced by hallucinogens (much evidence also suggests that such meditations, temporary changes the body and brain chemical-production).

  2. More Stressed By Having Leisure Of Free Time

    28/08/2010 by Admin

We have such good time too ponder over life that we become stressed by it, says a U.S. researcher.

Are you staying up late at night and pondering over problems with your colleagues? Or do you worry about how your dinner with your in-laws will go this weekend?

The cause of stress may simply be that we are so organized and also have few external threats to relate to. This gives us good time to think and to create stress, according to Robert Sapolsky of Stanford University.

Neurologist and biology professor has studied baboons in Kenya. He recognized the number of stress factors and health problems in bavian society from our Western society.

    “Fighters Fight” stress less
    - We are ecologically privileged enough that we invent our own social and physical stress. Baboons are privileged in the same way. They get ulcers because of the social challenges, says Sapolsky.

Now baboons can give us an indication on how we could take the least possible damage of this stressful life that we live.

Sapolsky discovered, among other things, that the baboons were able to distinguish a real threat from a dangerous situation, and was less stressful than the others. Baboons that took hold of a dangerous situation by starting a fight, was also less stressed than those who sat back and waited for the fight to  break out.

According to Sapolsky, there is a special group of baboons that do not handle stress very good. Probably some people can be placed in a similar group, he said.

    Unwind!
Under stress?  Good advice on how to cope with a busy life:

Moderate drinking. It might be easy to resort to alcohol and smoking in stressful situations. But if you stress a lot, both should be taken in moderation.

Hobby. Turn your attention to a hobby. Then your focus is put onto something else. It can be anything from a drawing course to work in a voluntary organization.

Drink water. If you are stressed out it perhaps sounds more tempting with a large glass of wine than a glass of water. But it is very important that you drink water. Because if you get dehydrated you will become sleepy, and it makes it difficult to cope with stressful situations.

Massage. Relaxation is the key to reducing stress. Massage calms the body, provides muscle relaxation and increase blood circulation.

Meditation. 15 minutes of meditation can provide deeper peace than an hour’s sleep. To begin the day with a two-minute meditation session can also be good. Sit with your back straight and repeat a word in your head. Or follow your breath. Learn a Meditation that releases stress Here!

Healthy diet. If you are stressed out, it is natural to crave more food, especially fast food. But even if the fast carbohydrates will give you a quick rush of insulin, you’ll rapidly get tired again. It is better to eat healthy and eat regularly. A stable blood sugar can reduce the stress level.

Sex. Maby you already know that sex can make you less stressed out: You can release a lot of anger, aggression and bad energy, that are associated with stress trough sex.

Sleep. It is important not to feel tired. Lack of sleep is a big influence on your day, and your problems may seem more serious than they really are.

Training. It is important to combine a stressful day with training. Exercise increases blood circulation, among other things in the body and opens the lungs so that you get more oxygen. Moreover, the body will produce more endorphins, the body’s own morphine.

Therapy. Sometimes it may help to talk to a therapist or a coach, who can advise on how to relax and tell you how you can get a more positive outlook on the situation you are in.

  3. Meditation is healthy

    11/05/2010 by Admin

People have been doing meditation for thousands of years and now researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is trying to find out if it really has any effect on us.

    Eight weeks of meditation
41 people were divided into two random groups, where one had to go to weekly meditation and do daily exercises at home. The rest lived as usual, and thus acted as a control group.

After eight weeks of meditation, scientists measured the electrical activity in the anterior part of the brain. As it turned out the meditators group had increased activity on the left side, something you often see when people feel positive and optimistic. Such activity is also associated with reduced anxiety and a general positive feeling state.

    Strengthened immune system
To test the meditation effect on the immune system, all 41 was given influenza vaccine

after the experiment. This means specifically that the immune system reacts, and stock antibody, and thus researchers could see if meditation made any difference.

It did. Both four and eight weeks after the vaccine the group that meditated had a much higher level of antibodies in the blood.

    - Although this was a smal studie, and they have to investigate more on the field to say, the result is very encouraging, “said Dr. Richard Davidson, who heads the project. University of Wisconsin-Madison has one of the few communities in the world to research on meditation.

    Cooperating with the Dalai Lama
The researchers have included collaboration with the Dalai Lama, and he has been one of the world’s foremost practitioners of meditation that now is joining the researchers team. Lama on his side was very interested in the university’s brain-scanning equipment.

The aim of this investigation to determine whether meditation can really be a useful tool in medicine, psychology and education, says the team. Currently, they do surveys on a group of people who meditated regularly for over 30 years.

But the road to knowledge is still long. This first survey was just a little test that can provide a more firm conclusion that meditation is healthy, and it looks promising, this is definitely worth further research.

  4. Meditation Prevents Stress

    07/05/2010 by Admin

Research shows that meditation reduces stress, both physically and mentally. More and more Norwegians meditate to gain more energy and reduce daily stress. It is not supernatural or mysterious. Meditation initiate physiological processes in the body that makes us more balanced and more able to cope with the everyday hustle and bustle.

    The heart beats slower

The studies of Solberg, showed that heart rate are both lower and more stable during meditation than during normal rest. Blood pressure goes down, and hormone production is affected. All in all, meditation helps the body to relax more than any other rest, and the effect is that we can cope better with both extreme and everyday stress.

Physician and heart specialist Erik Ekker Solberg is currently completing a doctoral dissertation on how meditation works on stress management. He has looked at the physiological changes that occur in the body when you meditate.

    Stable heart rate

The conclusion is that meditation can be suitable to cope with stress better. People who meditated regularly work easier in situations with physical stress than non meditators. The effects of the positive physiological changes also appeared to persist for some time after you have meditated. The result is less stress.

The results in these studies is supported by international studies on the effects of meditation.

There is little research on the prevention of stress

There is much research on what causes stress, but little on what can prevent it, “Says Solberg. Solberg says we need to focus more on how we can better cope with stress.

    - Most of the available research on stress is about what creates stress and how stress affects us. The lack of research on how to get out of stress. That’s what we’ve focused on in these studies, “Solberg says”.

    Performance Stress

Solberg used performance-stress associated with sports as a model in the study, but believes the results can be transferred to the stress most of us can experience in business and everyday life.

    Better Sleep

Sleep is also affected by regular meditation.Meditation may resemble a state between wakefulness and sleep. But it is an activity that has different physiological characteristics than the rest.

    - When you sleep you dont have a clear consciousness, but when you meditate, you are aware, “Solberg. We need sleep, but studies also suggest that sleep is affected by meditation.

    Melatonin

Solberg has found that the level of melatonin, a hormone that controls circadian rhythms and sleep changes with regular meditation. This makes the sleep function better in those who meditate.

    - Other factors such as less muscle tension and less psychological stress as a result of meditation, also that you fall asleep easier, “says Solberg

Margit Hegna meditates 30 minutes every morning and evening.

    Stress free meditation

    - The day I do not meditate, I notice that “the tempo is turned up in the head,” said Marit Hegna. I have less to go on throughout the day. She has a hectic job as a product developer in Lilleborg and has meditated for 8 years.

  5. The Inner Source of Infinite Energy – “Enlightenment”

    by Admin

Transcendental consciousness is the simplest experience of the mental state a human being can have. The consciousness experiencing itself at its absolute purest level. Some call this to go to their “center” or source. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi who introduced TM to the present time, uses the term self-referential consciousness. No matter what one may call this condition, this experience is described subjective of many meditators simply as “inner sleep filled with clarity” – this inner set of source or infinite energy, is a endless pond of creativity and meaningfulness. The experience itself is just as difficult to describe as if you were to explain the taste of a strawberry to someone who had never tasted it. In English you say: “The proof lies in eating the pudding!” You have to just “taste” it yourself…

A unique state of rest filled with blizz

Research confirms that the transcendental, pure consciousness is a fourth main state of consciousness that is different from waking consciousness, dream and sleep. By measuring changes in brain wave patterns – EEG, breathing rate and other physical variables have actually identified the pure, transcendental consciousness as a very specific state of consciousness.

Water the root and enjoy the fruits

When you water the root of a tree all the parts of the tree blooms, leaves, flowers and fruits is nourished. In the same way, regular meditation is the water of our roots or “go to the source” – it will nourish all aspects of life – mind, body and soul. Because you go to the deepest layers of consciousness, where you can find the maximum energy, creativity and intelleigens, the mind naturally express more of these quality when you come out of meditation. You feel less tired and stressed, and enjoy increased clarity and efficiency in all areas of life.
